This stunning shawl in brown najaf fabric, which is an elegant, thin material almost like gauze, is incredibly challenging to embroider and few women still possess this skill level today in Palestine. The detailed embroidery in safe and soft pinks is painstakingly done by women in Palestinian villages working from home is a skill passed on, the craft of traditional Palestinian tatreez.
This is handcrafted by Manjel Ma’qoud, a women’s embroidery group we formed in January of 2024 in response to the increasing pressure Palestinian women are under due to the ongoing and increasing Israeli closures and suffocation of the Palestinian economy. These designs are only available through Handmade Palestine and through your purchase, we are supporting 80 women and their families.
Material: synthetic najaf imported and DMC threads
Dimensions: 82 cm wide by 175 cm long | 32 in wide by 68 in long
